Micaela Goldsmith
Registered Psychologist, Member of ANZACBT and NZPSS

Background and Experience

Micaela is experienced in providing Individual Therapy; primarily using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy along with Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focussed Brief Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  Micaela works alongside clients in structured therapy sessions to identify what is contributing to their presenting problem and to collaboratively develop practical strategies in order to create meaningful change.

In addition, she has extensive experience in implementing intensive Behaviour Support Services, based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. Micaela specialises in working with children, adults and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum and/or who have an intellectual disability. She works from a non-aversive framework to increase positive behaviour, increase positive interactions, develop skills and decrease the occurrence of challenging behaviours.  Following a thorough assessment she works alongside family/whanau to implement function-based interventions that are individually tailored to the individual and their whanau/support staffs needs.

Qualifications

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Practice of Psychology (Applied Behaviour Analysis)

  • Masters in Psychology (Behaviour Analysis)

  • Bachelor of Social Sciences (Psychology and Human Development)
